This module will provide participants with the background and context needed to understand the impact of culture - the teacher’s, the students’ and the community’s - in the classroom. Participants will be asked to reflect on their own experiences of culture in the classroom and to consider their current level of cultural competency.
In this module, participants will consider the impact of the teacher on culture in the classroom and how they can intentionally shape that culture. Participants will consider their own classroom practice and be asked to conduct a classroom cultural-needs analysis.
This module focuses on students - how they shape classroom culture and how their cultural framework affects their learning. Participants will be asked to identify critical elements of teaching, learning environment and teacher-student interactions in order to develop resources for their own classroom.
This module explores the home-school relationship, why it matters and how to build strong connections with students’ families. Participants will develop a plan to promote meaningful and culturally-responsive relationships between the home and classroom.
